Each year, I ask God for a theme, verse or prophetic word to begin the New Year. For 2013, the word God has placed on my heart is FAITH. Why Faith? The bible states in Hebrews 11:1-2 of the New American Standard bible that
11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
2 For by it the men of old [d]gained approval.
Every day, we put our faith in the things around us. We have faith in the morning that we will see water streaming through the faucets. We have faith we will drive to work on the expressway and the street lights will be working properly. We have faith that when we work forty hours a week, we will receive a salary. We have faith in the vitamins we take each day. We have faith that the food we buy from the grocery store will supply the nutrients we need for our bodies. We have faith that the sun will rise, the stars will light the night and moon will sit high in the sky. We even have faith that we will see a rainbow once the sun move from behind the clouds after the rain.
We have faith in some many things each and every day.
The bible talks about a different kind of faith. This faith is the faith we have in God. I have faith that God loves me. I have faith that God will direct my steps throughout the course of my life. I have faith that the angels surround and protect me by day and by night. I have faith that God is a generous and loving God. I have faith that God wants me to live a victorious life.
How do I know? I know because the bible says in Numbers 23:19, (New American Standard Bible),
19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
The bible also says in the book of Mark 11:22-24 (NASB)
22 And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. 23 Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
This year, I will focus on Faith. Why Faith? I decided to break this scripture in a way in which it would be personal for me.
Now my faith (in God) is the promise or guarantee of things I expect or anticipate for, the confidence or certainty of belongings or possessions not seen.
So this year, instead of worrying about something simply say a prayer,
“Lord, I have faith that you are a loving God and I believe you will supply all my needs according to your riches and Glory. I have faith in you God.”
